We’re simply giving it the size it might have been offered in had the mattress dimensions of today existed in the 1800s.

Converting a double-size antique iron bed to king requires additional width. Depending upon the design of the particular bed, this can sometimes involve adding structural components or additional decorative castings.

If additional castings are required, we select or create additions that are appropriate to the original bed — matching the style, scale, and character of the existing components as closely as possible.
