Most people that are considering iron beds for possible king conversion, feel as though their options will be limited to beds with straight lines…… beds that can simply have a few iron tubes welded in to increase the width. No so.
In this photo of an iron bed we converted for a customer, you’ll see the circular design of this metal bed has been widened to create a king size iron bed. In the process we also converted it to a canopy.
There really are no restrictions when it comes to converting a double size bed to a modern king or queen size. The only possible style bed you might want to stay clear of when considering a king conversion would be a thinner gauge iron bed with 3/8″ solid rod across the top…….way to much flex with beds constructed in this manner. A bed with at least 1″ thick wall steel tubing is the gauge you should always get if your intention are to have it made wider.
There’s just too much “flex” in beds with the thinner 3/8″ gauge solid rod top.
