Over the years I have found more of my beds appear on Yahoo than I could have possibly believed . It amazes me where the photo’s come from or how they get indexed. But every time I do a random “search” for iron beds or antique iron beds, I find photo’s of beds I’ve done within the past 35 years. Sometimes the photo’s are of the most obscure beds, and are photo’s I no longer even have. It amazes me how these beds on Yahoo are found and get indexed.
There must be a full time team that does nothing other than cruise the Internet looking for things like iron beds or whatever else they’ve been put on the trail of. But where do they find them ? I find it very funny that many of the photo’s from Cathouse Beds are used on Yahoo’s indexing page, yet my website isn’t indexed as high as many of the sites that don’t even specialize in antique iron beds. The reasoning of why sites are indexed on Google and not on Yahoo has always alluded me.
Over the years my site will be indexed one month at the top of the listing and then another, not even on the same page. Yet sites that are totally irrelevant to actual iron beds, get listed higher. There are SEO companies by the thousands that will charge you for their ability to get you indexed higher in the rankings. Some promise immediate results…..Ha Ha!!!!! I had a very reputable company index my site and they told me going in to the process, it would take approx. 4 months before I saw my site pop up on the first page for “iron beds” and “antique iron beds” search terms. True to their word it did. The secrets to website optimization are total cloak and dagger secrets. Quite often the more successful SEO companies have people working for them that actually worked for Yahoo and Google. Their knowledge of indexing sites can be invaluable. Unfortunately those indexing parameters change at least once a year. So quite often a site that was optimized ………. might need to go through a similar process as time goes on.
