Many people just aren’t aware of the proper way antique iron beds should be dressed. If the truth be told………there really is no proper way.
As you can see from this photo, the designer selected a bed that that has over sized tubing and a very rusted rustic look. To blend appropriately with this particular bed, she went with strong dark colors and rich brown and burgundy velvet materials and pillows. For a clean look she also went with fresh white linens……… which gives a nice high contrast between the old rusted finish and the white linens.
Most of my customers choose to use a “dust ruffle”. But in this instance a larger over sized comforter has such great drop on the side’s……a dust ruffle just wasn’t necessary.
Your bedroom will also determine whether you want to go dark or lighter with your quilts , comforters and pillows. A smaller area that might not have the bright light you’d like it to have a lighter finish. Yet in a larger room with lots of light, would be better served with a darker “anchor” color.
Iron beds have always had the flexibility to decorate with a lighter or darker theme.
