When most people think of remodeling they rarely think of redecorating also. But one sort goes hand in hand with the other. You’re usually removing old surrounds and replacing them with newer ones. You’d think that should follow suite for the same furniture items that have been around for almost the same period of time.
Yet some people go to all the trouble of moving walls, painting, redesigning interiors, carpeting or laying hardwood floors and then placing the same old worn out furniture right back into the same place and then wonder why their remodel didn’t achieve the difference they were looking for.
One of the biggest mistakes people make in the bedroom is setting back up the tired old wooden bed frame they probably got from their parents when they first got married. One of the best changes you could make that is going to give you the biggest “WOW” factor, is a beautiful antique iron bed. Why……..? For a number of reasons. First iron beds have a lighter airier look that doesn’t take up a s much visual space as a wooden or an upholstered bed does. If placed in front of a window they allow light and vision through…… a wooden or upholstered bed doesn’t. They can be color coordinated with the bedrooms surrounding color scheme, with the finish you decide on applying. They can also be as fancy and ornate as you want or as subdued and Austere as you want. It’s also very easy to find beds that blend beautifully with the style furniture you have. Many of them have a Craftsman look, whereas others have a Traditional Cottage or French Country look. Other forms of bed frames aren’t as adaptable to every possible decor.
Another great thing about the old antique double sizes, is that they can be converted to king and queen size. Another great transformation is a canopy conversion. I’ve never seen an bed that didn’t look better after a canopy conversion. A canopy conversion draws your eye up. If you have tall ceilings a high beamed rafters, a canopy can help with that soaring space.
So the next time you do a remodel…….or consider changing your bedroom around……think of using an iron bed. The possibilities are limitless.
