It was a strange thing that some designers of iron beds did back in the early 1800’s when selecting a certain theme for their iron beds. Some would take a very strong masculine route with thicker tubing and straight line and others would go more for the soft flowing feminine curves. But occasionally I’ll come across a iron bed where both masculine and feminine themes are used. Take for instance this iron bed we did for a Sydney Australia client that has “dragon head” corner castings and a “heart” shape in the middle. It would seem his thought of an iron beds design should appeal to both genders. Most iron beds of that time had nice flowing lines that appealed to the women of the house, Also most iron bed manufacturers produced a number of iron beds, definitely with a more masculine theme. This iron bed seems to have been right on the politically correct fence.
