Ok……You’ve got this sweet little bedroom that’s just crying out for some form of bed. Woods nice…..it will blend with your furniture. An upholstered headboard would be nice and it could be made to blend with other fabrics being used in the bedroom. So why consider iron beds? Well…..lets see. Is there a possiblity the only wall you’d like the bed to go on has a window on it? If so ….. how much light is that wooden or upholstered headboard going to block out? And then how much is the iron bed going to block? Right………. a whole lot less. So you say the room is on the smaller side…..consider this……whch do you think is going to visually take up more space in your smaller room? Wooden, upholstered or iron? Right again. So far that’s two strikes against wooden and upholstered. OK………watch out, here comes the fast ball. Which of the three do you think will give you the “Wow” factor, not take up so much visual space, let light into the room and last but not least, be able to be painted with any imaginable finish, so as to blend with whatever you have in the room. Yep……Go to the head of the class……an iron bed. An if you take it up a notch and get an original old antique iron bed, you can include the distinct advantage of the appreciable value your metal bed has. When was the last time you heard a salesman at a furniture store discussing the guaranteed investment appreciation a piece of his furniture has? Right……never. Antiques can never go down in value. Because of their limited numbers and increased demand…….there will never be enough of them to satisfy the demand. Hence the flood of reproductions on the market, that results from the demand for an original, being higher that the supply. Lesson over. Hope you make the right choice.
