Now how could Valentines Day ever be associated with iron beds? How about the use of “hearts”. I’ve had more iron beds than you can imagine that incorporated the design of “hearts”. Some just used them in a very subtle fashion and others used the entire perimeter of the design to shape a heart. But rest assured…….it was no mistake they were used to appeal to a particular romantic clientele. I’ve even had extremely heavy Austere style iron bed frames that incorporated the use of hearts.
About 25 years ago I sold a matching pair of heart shaped iron beds to an Oscar Award winning actress for her daughters room. These particular iron beds were double size. She asked that we refinish them in a distressed dusty rose color. They were two of the more feminine iron beds I’ve ever refinished.
Here are just a few of the “heart shaped” iron beds I’ve had.
